Let Us Comfort
Tufarijiis Swahili for “let us comfort one another.” We built this platform because losing someone is hard enough — the logistics of informing hundreds of people should not be.
Why we built Tufariji
When a family member passes away in Kenya, a coordinator — often a sibling, a church elder, or a trusted friend — suddenly has to manage an enormous amount of information. Where is the funeral? What time does the service start? Which M-Pesa number do contributions go to? Is there a live stream?
This information gets scattered across dozens of WhatsApp messages, forwarded PDFs, and word of mouth. People miss the funeral because the venue changed. Family abroad can’t find the live stream link. Harambee contributions go to the wrong number.
Tufariji puts everything in one link — the obituary, the program, the venue with directions, the contribution details, photos, hymns, and the live stream. The family shares that single link on WhatsApp. Everyone has everything they need.
It takes under three minutes to create. It works on any phone. And it’s built to feel worthy of the occasion.
What we believe
Dignity over delight
Grief deserves gravity. Every design decision starts here — no engagement metrics, no dark patterns, no playful interactions that don't belong at a funeral.
Built for families, not just tech users
Our primary user is someone on a basic Android phone, on WhatsApp, in the middle of loss. The platform must work simply and reliably for them.
Kenya-first
M-Pesa, harambee contributions, Swahili, Nairobi churches and rural venues — this platform is built around how Kenyans actually grieve and gather.
Private by default
Memorial pages are shared via direct link, not indexed by search engines. Families control who sees them. We don't sell data or run ads.
